About the role
The apprenticeship tutor will run and deliver apprenticeship programmes across the UK. The role will require the successful candidate to have a good understanding of the delivery of apprenticeship standards and frameworks.

An LMP tutor will inspire and ensure that every person that goes through an apprenticeship programme with us will have an opportunity to thrive and succeed. Tutors will also be responsible for mentoring learners during their work placements and ensuring they are in a safe environment where they can progress and learn.

Essential Responsibilities The below listed tasks/responsibilities are not exhaustive:

Administration

  • Prepare and produce scheme of work and session plans as directed by the Quality Team.
  • Deliver Functional Skills qualifications as part of an apprenticeship.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records (e-portfolio and caseload tracker) for each individual learner according to internal procedures.
  • Provide progression, retention and achievement information for the course being taught.
  • Contribute to the self-assessment process which informs continuous improvement.
  • Ensure electronic diaries are kept up to date at all times with detailed appointments.

Teaching and Learning

  • Undertake appropriate initial assessment of learners to ascertain their starting point on the course.
  • Assess learner knowledge and skill against the subject areas and provide constructive feedback verbally and written so that learners understand what they need to improve,
  • Plan and deliver high quality teaching learning to learners using own experience and skills to make curriculum content relevant
  • Assess learner s performance in the workplace where appropriate on a face to face basis
  • Provide timely marking of learners work to support learner progress
  • Work with employers in order to maintain engagement and curriculum sequencing.
  • Carry out regular progress reviews with learners and employers in order to track progress towards timely completions.
  • Provide on-going information, advice and guidance with learners in order for them to reach their aspirations.
  • Deliver training on 1:1 or group basis face to face or online

Other areas

  • Keep up to date with curriculum and industry developments in the relevant subject areas.
  • Deliver inclusive and high-quality courses, materials and opportunities to all learners, and actively seek to eliminate any indirect or direct discriminatory practice or behaviours.
  • Comply with the internal quality assurance strategy in order to ensure that assessments are delivered to a high standard.
  • Undertake appropriate training as identified through the observation and line management process.
  • Achieve good levels of compliance by maintaining timely records on Smart Assessor.
  • Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Subject specific industry qualifications at level 3 or above (essential).
  • Teaching, learning and assessment qualification e.g. Assessor awards certificate in education (desirable).

Experience

  • Three years industry experience as a school business manager or similar roe in a school and/or academy.
  • 5 years’ experience of working in an education training and development environment.
  • Managing the full learner journey; initial assessment, IAG, diagnostic, teaching-learning-assessment, including classroom and 1:1 delivery.
  • Experience using e-portfolio systems e.g. SMART Assessor.

Knowledge & Skill

  • Understanding of frameworks and standards up to level 5 with different relevant awarding bodies.
  • Knowledge of funding streams and funding requirements for the delivery of apprenticeships and skills programmes.
  • Ability to support and motivate learners through difficult and challenging times.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage own diary.
  • Proven knowledge of effective teaching, learning and assessment practices to engage learners.
